Team Scavenger Hunt

video

Friday marked the first scavenger hunt of the year. The hunt led the team on an adventure across the campus. The team had to decipher the clues, and then find both the next clue, as well as a puzzle piece for the final clue. From the library to the football stadium to the Porta Potty in the overflow lot, the team collected all of their clues and puzzle pieces. Once the team could complete the puzzle, they put it together and sprayed it with grape juice to reveal the final "hidden" clue...the ice cream shop on Main St.

Fall Practice Comes to a Close

Today marks the final day of the fall season for the girls. It has been a terrific start to the year. Everyone has worked hard, and the kids have really begun to gel as a group. As a staff, we have asked a lot of the girls this fall, and they have responded to our challenges by raising their expectations and level of play as a group.

We now enter into the "individual skills" portion of the school year. During this time, the players will have 2 hours of softball work and will increase their time spent on strength and conditioning. The next two months will be spent in the community, as the girls will be focused on completing their community service hours required of all BGSU softball players.

Softball Field Dedication

On Friday, October 3, 2008, the softball field was officially named after Mr. and Mrs. Meserve. As many of you know, the Meserves are long time friends of the BGSU softball family. The team came out to help celebrate with the rest of the BGSU community. The ceremony included the unveiling of the new sign, as well as comments from Mr. Meserve and Athletic Director, Greg Christopher. Past and present athletes were in attendance to celebrate with the Meserves as we thanked them for years of support and service!

Isn't this what every team does at practice???

The BGSU softball team finished off another successful week of practice with a little fun. The coaching staff is known for some, let's say, creative ways to bring the team together. Today's fun involved 12 gum balls, a bubble, 2 cups with holes in them, and water. Curious???? Let us explain...

The girls were split into 2 teams. At stake, equipment duties and a snickers bar. Essentially the team builder was a relay race. Each player had to:
#1: Place all 12 gum balls into her mouth.
#2: Blow a bubble with all 12 gum balls still in her mouth.
#3: Run down to the water cooler and fill 2 glasses with the water inside.
#4: Run back as fast as possible and put the water into the Halloween pumpkin. The team that filled their pumpkin first would be declared the winner. The only problem was that blowing a bubble was all but impossible and the cups had holes in them.

This might have been an issue for some, but for our girls,
it was CHEAT TO WIN!!!
